(SSMfXtI TO TSE BTANDAI,m) Nspibb, last night. At a meeting of the Education Board yesterday Mr Ormond was re-elected Chairman for the ensuing year. Two letters from the Gisborne Committee were dealt with, In respect to one, forwarding account for the hire of the C iy Rink for school purposes, jt was decided that as tfos Committee acted Withogt authority, the Board mugt refuse to entertain th? pfoim. The other letter re ported that t?‘f c fo®f'e residence was unsound, and WI fop In oonneotion with this letter fi •“Bort read from the architect who examined buildings in Poverty district, stating that the house was in need of repairs, and he recommended its removal to another portion of the ground, estimating cost of removal and repairs at £ll5. He recommended &lso that the Ormond aohocl be r&paired at a cost of £BB, the To Arsi house at a coot of £7O. and Patutahi school at a cost of £l5O. Mr H. Dodo, of Poverty Bay, wrote asking why his son was not given a special scholarship allowance the same as Livingstone. It was decided to reply tfoat tfop allowance was not in accordance with the regulations, and that there were no scholarship funds left from which to make a similar allowance to Dods. Mine settlers of Nuhaka wrote asking for a school, the Wairoa Council offering a site. The matter was postponed for a month. The Te Arai Committee wrote protesting that the Board’s grant was quite inadequate for the repairs naosssary to make the master's house habitable. The matter was deferred, Miss Evans (Gisborne) wag granted leave provided a IDfosiltilte Fere found.
