Napier School Committees.

[SPECUL TO THS STANDARD.] Napieii, last night. The School Committee election in Napier oh Monday caused const lerable excitement. For several years the political element has been introduced info affdre, the Liberal party always succeeding in returning four of their nominees, to which number they restricted themselves. The new Act, howover, gave the Conservatives hope, and they put forward a ticket of five nominees, tbe Liberals issuing a ticket of seven. The latter, however, only succeeded in putting in two, the Conservatives returning all their five. The following was the votingT. Sidey 510, C. H. Edwards 439, S. Spence 481, J. Griffin 474, J. B. Fielder4s4, J. G. Gilberd 414, M. Hebden 345, W. H Robinson 339, T. Murphy 312, T. Exeter 310, E. Mayson 307, J. Burden 304. The Committee appointed Mr Sidey Chairman. The Spit Committee elected are—Messrs Heald, MoArthy, Puflett (Chairman), Tomkin, Prebble, Pleasted, and T. Drogh. Petline Committee—Messrs Kirkham, Carr, Smith, Twigg, Torr, Tuxford, Richardson.
