[Special to the Standard.] Wellington, last night. In this evening’s Post ths following is given as the financial policy of the Treasurer: —Repeal of the present property Tax, amt the substitution of a graduated land tax on the unimproved value of all land in town and country, improvements over the value of £3OO to be taken; an income tax on all incomes over £3OO per annum, companies to be taxed on their profits instead of on their capital. Improvements on land under £3OO value, and incomes under £3OO a year, will be exempt. These are the leading features of the scheme; details, of course, have to be filled in. Government are preparing a Bill extending the privileges under the present Act to enable old soldiers whose claims are favorably reported on by the Commission to participate in grants of land. The Industrial Conciliation Bill which Government propose to introduce next session will shortly be out. It provides for utilising existing Boards of Conciliation in New Zealand, in providing machinery for their better working, and encouraging the establishment of new Boards.
