The Unemployed.

[RFEOtAL TO THX STANDARD.] Weimkoton. last night. A deputation of unemployed, headed by Messrs Fisher and Macdonald, M.H.R's., waited on the Premier to-day. A member of the deputation stated that the number of unemployed in Wellington was about 100, of various trades and callings. The Premier, in answer to the deputation, stated the Government were anxious to do all in their power to obtain work for tho unemployed. Employment at road making, for about 100 men, would probably be obtainable in a few weeks. Government intended to ask Parliament to consent to the appointment of a Minister of Industries, whose business would be to enquire into the question of obtaining work for the unemployed.
