ARRIVALS.
HIGH WATER—SUN RISES AND SETS
The Union Company’s coastal steamer Southern Cross, which left Napier at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening, did not reach Gisborne till 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon, having experienced a very heavy sea, accompanied with a North-easterly gale on the trip up. Passengers : Miss Jensen, Messrs Jenkins, Marshal], Niccol, Arthur, Gibbs, and one steerage. DEPARTURES. The Tyser Company's steamer Celtic King left for Napier at 2.30 a.m., yesterday. 7 The topsail schooner Awaroa has arrived from Napier, and is discharging her deck cargo of timber at the training wall, owing to the shallow state of the river. The ss. Australia should reach here today, from Auckland. After discharging cargo she goes on to Napier and Wellington. The ss. Manapouri arrives here from Southern ports and Melbourne on Sunday morning. The Union Company’s steamer Waihora, from Russell and Auckland, was to have left the latter port last evening, but it is doubtful whether she got away or not as no word was received of her departure. The last launch is, however, at present fixed to leave the shore at 7, The Southern Cross goes on North about daylight this morning, TELEGRAPHIC. Spit, yesterday. Arrived—S.S.
