ARGENTINE FINANCES.
A NEW NATIONAL BANK TO BE ESTABLISHED. CAPITAL, TWO MILLIONS. The great financial troubles In the Argentine Republic now present some indication of clearing up. There is still faith in the State Bank system, and the Government propose to create a new National Bank, absorbing the old one. The capital proposed is two million sterling. The recent crises caused the National Bank system to fall into ill-repute.
THE BANISHED QUEEN-
A REVOLUTION NOW FEARED. ENRAGED SUBJECTS. The banishment of ex-Queen Natalie has led to a very serious state of things in Servia. Fears are entertained that a revolution will be the outcome of the determined action of the Regency in their opposition to the ex-Queen, who has a great deal of sympathy on her side, even of those who would not otherwise concern themselves in the matter. The ex-Queen will take advantage of every legal opportunity to sustain what she considers her unquestionable privileges. She intends to appeal to the Supreme Court, and demand reparation for the deprival of her civil rights. She is now at Semlin, which will now soon surpass Belgrade in the eyes of the fashionable people of Servia.
THE JEWS AND RUSSIA.
; EXAGGERATED STATEMENTS. 1 Thousands of Russian Jews are desirous ' of adopting the Lutheran religion. An ‘ edict, issued by the Csar, forbids the Jews to make any confession of faith until a year’s probation has expired. Russian subjects, and not Jews, are be--1 ing deported to Siberia. A third of the 15,000 are prisoners, the remainder being their wives and families, who are accompanying them. Baron Hirsch has purchased a tract of land in Uruguay, South America, for the purpose of settlement by the Jews who have been expelled from Russia. The Government have granted favorable privileges to Jews in taking up the land, and Baron Hirsch has despatched an engineer to make all preparations. NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS. AUCKLAND. Last night.
