A grand-niece of the Duke of Wellington has gone into business in London as a lady florist. Mr Alfred Walker, a well known pressman in Northern Queensland, who has been despatched by the New Australia Co operative Settlement Association to visit the Argentine Republic and other South American Stales, with a view to obtaining concessions for the settlement of a large number of unionists from Australia, arrived in Wellington from Sydney by the Hauroto.and joins the Tainui, for Bio de Janeiro. The association he represents numbers 15,000 men. About 7000 have intimated their readiness to go, and if favorable conditions are obtained from any of lhe South American Governments, it is confidently expected that at least 5000 men will be prepared to take advantage of them. The Argentine Government has already offered certain concessions, but these are regarded as scarcely sufficiently liberal, and Mr Walker’s misejon is to endeavour to obtain farther concessions, there, or better terms in some of the other States.
