HARBOR BOARD.

An ordinary meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present: The Chairman (Mr Townley) and Messrs Bright, Sievwright, Shelton, Chrisp, and Joyoe. Mr Trent wrote stating that as he had disposed of his mill he would not require the Board’s boat, but advised that a person in Wellington be communicated with in regard to the boat.—Decided to adopt the suggestion.

The Harbormaster reported that the river was getting worse, and asked for permission to use some of the fascines in hand to try and remedy it. The matter was left to the Chairman.—Captain Chrisp said that if there was no chance of assistance from the Government they would have to do something of ajpermanent nature in regard to the river.

The Wharfinger made a report, which included a partial stocktaking of the Board’s property. He mentioned that everything was all right, but a few small articles could not be found.

The Chairman said that it was impossible without going to considerable expense to make a proper stocktaking, all the things would have to be shifted about, and special assistance would have to be obtained.

In regard to the non-fulfilment of a resolution that the Wharfinger should supply a list of outstanding wharfages, etc., on a certain date, Mr Bright spoke warmly on the subject. Mr Warren, however, explained that pressure of other work had prevented its being attended to at first, and then when the new system of prompt payments was intro; duced he had thought the report would not be required.—lt was decided that the repost should be made available, The following accounts were passed for payment Cook County Council £34 17s 4d, Borough Council £l7 103, Gas Company £l9 18s 3d, H.
