POLITICAL GOSSIP.

Mr Taylor is introducing the Coroner Bill, providing for the payment of jurors on a graduated scale from three to seven shillings per day.

The Bill to prevent the sain of intoxicants to children, introduced by Mr Fisher, proposes to make such axles to children under thirteen puuishab'e by a penalty up to £lO ; while his Agent General's Limitation of Ofiico Bill is meant to limit the term of the Agent-General’s appointment to three years. The purpose of the Companies Act Amendment Bill is to enable the Banks to be established under the Companies Act, as in other colonies, and di- pense with the necessity for sepa-ate Bills to constitute them. The object of Mr Jackson Palmer’s Juries Act is to abolish Grand Juries and vest their functions in the Judges. Owing to Mr Taylor’s persistency in applauding tlie utterances from the Treasury benches, Mr Fisher referred to him as the Ministerial clacquer, whereupon Mr Taylor rose indignantly and protested against being termed a “ olacker," adding that if any hou member waa addicted to that habit it was tbe member for Wellington himself. He charged Mr Fisher with impudence, and this being ruled unparliamentary, substituted ‘* cheek,' * but of course had to withdraw that term also. The hon. gentleman then proceeded to administer “ friendly ” advice to Mr Fisher by recommending him to cultivate the virtue of modesty.
