On the Finance Committee’s recommendation it was decided that the office hours for the clerk should he from 9 till 5, and the hours for the public from 10 to 4. A sum of £l5 was ordered to be paid co Mr Warren for taking charge of the office. The Overseer made a general report. A man had been engaged to ferry people across the river while the bridge is being repaired, during the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mr E. G. A. Cr McLernon thought it advisable to have the kerbing done in Lowe Street, from Childers road to Palmerston Road, He proposed that the work be done. Or Harding seconded. The Mayor thought that the matter should stand over for the present. They were not in funds, having an overdraft in the bank, The work was not a necessity.
