HIGH WATER—SUN BISES AND SETS
ARRIVALS. The coastal steamer Southern Cross, from Auckland via way ports, arrived in Gisborne shortly after 7on Thursday night. Passengers : Miss Brooke-Taylor, Mr Pattie, Mr Steele, Master Dodgshun, and one Native. The small steamer Te Kapu arrived from Napier yesterday morning, bringing the Pirate Football team. Quito unexpectedly the Union Company's steamer Wairarapa came into port at 11.35 yesterday morning, from Russell and Auckland, after a fine weather passage along the Coast. Passengers : Misses White and Dinan, Messrs Mcßride, Sheen, McMillan, Porter, Watson, Ferguson, Barker (2), McDonald, Rees, Robertson, DeLautour, Brown, Hammond, and Master Heeps. DEPARTURES. The Southern Cross steamed on to Napier on Thursday night, taking—Mrs Keater, Messrs Bingham, Barron, and Haywood. The steamer Wairarapa left for Southern porta and Melbourne at 6 last evening, taking —Mrs McCready, Miss Humphreys, Messrs Smith, Atkins, A. Rees, Arthur, Evans, Hay, Bogers, Polkinghorne, Dean, Bev. Canon Fox, and one native. TELEGRAPHIC. Auckland, Yesterday. Arrived—R.M S. Mariposa, at 5 a.m., from Honolulu, with ’Frisco mails. VESSELS EXPECTED. Mataura, barque, from Napier Waiapu, schooner, from Auckland Awanui, schooner, from Auckland Nortel, schooner, from Westport This morning the steamer Australia leaves for East Coast ports and Auckland. This afternoon the steamer Talnne loaves Wellington for North. She calls in at Napier to morrow, arriving here early on Monday morning. She steams for Auckland, Bussell, and Sydney at 8. The Te Kapu returns to Napier at midnight to-night. The schooner Waiapu was lying at Waiapu When the Southern Cross passed. The schooner Walwera (Captain Pankow) arrived from Napier yesterday. She was towed into the river on the afternoon’s tide. The schooner Opotiki (Captain Blackwell), from Napier, was under Nick’s Head yesterday. She will most likely be brought inside this forenoon, and berthed at the wharf.
