Smoke Concert.

An enjoyable two hours’ entertainment was held at the smoke concert at the Masonic Hotel on Saturday evening, with the members of the visiting football team. Mr Harding proposed the toast of the visiting team, coupled with the name of Mr Cowell. The latter gentleman briefly responded, speaking of the kind treatment which the team had received while in Gisborne. The toast of kindred sports was proposed by Mr A. DeCosta, and responded to by Mr Wittington. Mr H. Burns proposed the toast of “The Ladies ” for the Gisborne team, and Mr Trotter responded on behalf of the Napier team. Mr W. Fraser proposed the toast of the Press, coupled with the name of Mr DeCosta (representing the Standard). The toast of the host and hostess was proposed by Mr R. Robinson. Mr Cowell, on behalf of the Pirates, thanked Mr Harding for the hospitable manner in which he had treated the team during their stay here. The following gentlemen contributed songs during the evening. Messrs Campbell, DeCosta, Trotter, Parnell, Wrightson, Wade, and Knight, and Messrs Campbell and Parnell provided the accompaniments during the evening,
