Hospital Trustees.
An ordinary meeting of the Trustees was held last night. Present : Capt. Tucker (chairman), and Messrs Watson, Lucas, Hepburn, and Nolan. The monthly report showed —remaining from last month 9, admitted 6, discharged 5, deaths 3, remaining at date 7. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £lOO 15s Bd. Accounts amounting to l6s 8d were passed for payment. The Chairman and Mr Tuohy were appointed a Visiting Committee for the month.'
A circular from the Otago Benevolent Trustees was read. It directed attention to the fact that clause 5 of the Lunatics Act Amendment Bill now before the House would practically throw one-half of the cost of maintenance of harmless lunatics upon local contributing bodies, and taking from trustees of benevolent institutions the power to determine what lunacy cases shall be received in the institutions, and the Otago Board urged that steps be taken to prevent the Bill becoming law.—lt was concluded that the matter was one that might be better left to the consideration of the Charitable Aid Board.
It was decided to have gas laid on in the Hospital building, provided that certain terms were arranged with the Gas Company.
