Morok showed the wav to the first fence, which he jumped just clear of Waitangi and Christmas, with Kangir.ao and Oeo most prominent of the rest. Morok increased his advantage as they ran round the bottom turn, and was six or seven lengths in front of Kangaroo, while Waitangi, Freeman, and Christmas were occupying good poaltlona, Morok drew further away as they went along the baok of the course, and Waitangi again ran Into second place, but the leader struck the big wall very heavily, and was only two or three lengths In advance of Waitangi and Christmas as they jumped the ditch and bank. Coming to the stand double for the second time Morok, Christmas, and Kangaroo were almost in a line, but the first named was the quickest over, and went on with the lead to Cutts’s, where Oeo and Otaieri fell. At the next obstacle Sentinel came to grief, and as the pace improved Morok, Kangaroo, Freeman, and Christmas were all together, and Ahua, who had been lying right away from his field, slightly improved his position. At the double opposite the kennels Darnley, who had been jumping vary slovenly all ths way, fell, and at the next obstacle Morok also came to grief. This left Christmas at the head of affairs, and as they turned for home he jumped the ditch bank harely clear of Kangaroo and Freeman, Before reaching the last hurdle Freeman had taken command, and stalling off a challenge by Christmas on the fla', drew away, and won comfortably by f iur lengths, Waitangi a few lengths away, with Kangaroo just beaten on the post fourth, Ahur fifth, and Tauraekaitai sixth.
