About thirty native chiefs, who claimed to represent all the natives of the colony, interviewed the Premier and the Native Minister on Friday, and asked that the Native Lands Bill should stand over till next session to enable the natives to discuss its provisions carefuily, and let the Government know the result. Ministers pointed out that the natives hitherto had been unable to agree to native legislation, but promised to consider the request now made, and let the deputation know the result. The intention is to allow the Bill to proceed to elicit the views of the House, but it will be dropped at a latter stage of the session. women’s franchise. A meeting of members favorable to the extension of the franchise to women was held in Parliament building this morning. Seventeen were present. Apologies for non-attendance were received from several. A committee was appointed to take such steps as may be expedient to give effect to the wishes of the majority on the subject of the female franchise, and to wait upon Government and respectfully request them to take such steps as will enable the House to come to a decision without delay.
