HIGH WATER—SUN RISES AND SETS
ARRIVALS. The steamer Diogadee. arrived from South on Saturday morning, bringing—Mrs Clause, Messrs Moore, Hatton, Gibbs, Fordham, Sheen, and six steerage. The steamer Te Anau, from Sydney via Russell and Auckland, did not reach here till 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. Passengers : Mrs Buckland, Messrs E. Mmphy, I’ellwain, Slim, Whittaker, and six steerage. DEPARTURES. The Dingadee steamed North on Saturday morning, taking—Mrs Bush, Mrs and Miss Foster, Judge Connolly, and Mr Black. The steamer To Anau left for South on Saturday night—Miss Tattersail, Mr and Mrs Hume, Messrs McKinnon, Arundel and Mowat. Arrived—Botomahana, at 7 am. from Melbourne. Auckland, yesterday. Arrived—Dingadee, at 1.15 p.m., from Gisborne, The schooner Opotiki, Captain Blackwell, left Napier on Wednesday last and arrived in the roadstead on Saturday morning.. Sho was delayed on the passage up by having to oontend with light variable winds. Owing to the heavy sea that sprung up in the bay on Saturday afternoon, the Te Anau could not ba lightered for her cargo. The steamer Te Kspo arrives here from Southern ports on Sunday morning. The Australia leaves Wellington for North to night, arriving here on Friday morning. The Dingadee is expected to leave Auck - land this afternoon for Erst Coast ports and Gisborne. Tho Manapouri, which grounded at Capo Schank, Melbourne, a few days ago, and in consequence of which sha was detained, left Wellington cn Tuesday last for Auckland direct so as to be able to take up her usual running. She leaves Auckland on Thursday next for Southern ports. The schooner Marmion was towed to tho end of the breakwater on Saturday morning, when she discharged her deck load of timber. In the evening while sailing up the river, she ran fool of the Tuna, which was berthed at the viaduct. Fortunately there was no damage done beyond the funnel being carried away. The lighter Iris collided with the schooner in the morning, the jibboom of the lighter going clean through the bulwarks of the Marmion. After taking in about 30 tons of coals from the Dingadee on Saturday for the freezing works, the Tuna attempted to come inside, but on reaching the end cf the concrete work there was a heavy sea breaking, and the launch was washed a little out of the channel way, on to the sand, where she remained for fully three hours, the sea making clean breaches over her.
