NAPIER. Last night. A meeting of the creditors of James Irvine was held this morning to decide the question as to the disposal of the bankrupt’s furniture and effects, valued at £350. After two motions had been negaiired, one for giving the furniture to the bankrupt and the other for selling it at auction, it was decided that if the debtor could arrange to pay £l5O for the furniture the offer be accepted. A little girl named Kate Travers, not quite 18 months old, daughter of a railway engine driver, was lost at 3 o’clock yeatrrday afternoon. She was playing with a sister four years old, and other children, on the beach, and it is surmised that she got into tho sea and was drowned. A numerous party was searching for her last evening and through the night, and this morning the foreshore was dragged by fishermen, but without avail. A case brought by the Hawke’s Bay Babbit Board against J. D. Ormond, for neglecting to take eteps to eradicate rabbits on his run, came before Mr Turnbull, R M , on Monday. The Clerk of the Court stated that the summons had been sent to Wellington, but Mr Ormond refused to accept service, pleading privilege ss a member of tha Legislative Council. Mr Turnbull said the Wellington constable should have left the summons with Mr Ormond, and he adjourned the ease for a fortnight to enable the summons to be served.
