A rather curious circumstance is recorded from the Spit. During the last wool season, one of the employees of Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., who were engaged in dumping bales, mysteriously lost his watch. He never suspected where it went, and the loss had almost faded from his memory, when from the London firni to whom the wool was consigned came a package containing the man’s watch, in good going order ’ The watch (which by the way, was a valuable one) had evidently been dragged from the dumper’s pocket, got jammed up in the bale, made the long journey to London, was discovered there, and forwarded back to Napier.
