Fine weather at last [this was written for Saturday’s issue], and are not the trainers taking advantage of it! At the first appearance of morning light you will see whole strings of horses wending their way to the training tracks to receive a pipe opener. The Park course has several animals to visit it. At the beginning of the week little Assassin had a go over the sticks—ho fences fairly well, but is a bit hot headed. Little Joe is not so good a jumper as he used to be—he is inclined to baulk. A horse that looks well, and is going well, is Avis—he is the pick ot Suff's bunch. Hexham seems to hive pace, but he goes very cramped until he is fairly sot agoing. Deceiver is still at it, and can beat a lot of the young ones yet. Truthful keeps battling on, but he does not seem to got any faster. Moonstone looks very ragged. No doubt she was born without friends—a good mare for all that. Of the Makaraka horses, Stockfish stands before them all for condition. This is my choice for some of the Handicap events. Creeper looks rather rough—he has an inclination to creep off the course with bis rider, a very bad habit. There is a rare cut of a chaser at Ormond. I hear that be belongs to Mr Boland. This horse ought to make a name for himself if looks go for anything. By ihe way, speaking of Ormond, that delicate little village which once fliwed with milk and honev, and a whole host of lady kiiliog A. C’a. Alas I they are all gone, and Ormoad is left with only one defender of the pesos, and the little village is surrounded by broken down fences. But Ormond is looking up. A young lady has started horse training, and I hear she is very good at the game, and also that she is going to put up for the House when the Women’s Franchise is passed. I was told that several other ladies wpnld contest the seat against her, on account of her views. What a world we live in 1 Rather would I live on frogs, exclaimed one delicate damsel, than see women in tbe House —I do not mind them training horses, but we must keep them out of the Houm. A.J-C.
