Horse—- , r|B!p “MORPHEUS.” MORPHEUS ia a golden chestnut, standing 1G hands 8 inches, and by that fast and well-known horse Castaway, dam Somnambula by Towton imported dam Opera, by II Barbiero, dam Cassandra, oy Priam ; Towton, imported, by Melbourne ; Castaway by Traduoar, imported, dam Mermaid, imported. Morpheus comes from a great racing family, claiming some aristocratic and high-class performers as his relatives. His sire won *he Wellington Oup, Ashburton Cup, and ran second for the Christchurch Derby and Great Autumn Handicap. He is full brother to Lurline and Le Loup. The performances of these animals in New Zealand pnd Australia need no comment. Le Loup won the Canterbury J.O. Handicap and Cup in 1880; Opera, grand dam of Morpheus, won the Canterbury Derby in 1864. Tambourinl was also from Opera, by Towton, and won amongst other races, the Canterbury J.C. Handicap and Canterbury and Wellington Cups, besides performing successfully over hurdles. Salvage, by Castaway, ran second for Wellington Cnp in 1882, giving the winner a year and a pound. Won the Great Autumn Handicap at Christchurch, and ran second to Adamant for the Dunedin Cup, giving the winner two years and twenty-four pounds. Won the Auckland Cup and Free Handicap. Towton (imported) is the grandsire of Morpheus, and the sire of such noted performers as Golden Cloud, Master Rowe, Misfortune, Tambourinl, Lara, Puriri, Korari, Atalanta, Ayncena, Cocksure, Matora, Lilli pee, Stirabout, Songster, Lacenfeed, Ramarama, and Twitter. Morpheus is nearly full brother in blood to Darebin, admitted to be as brilliant a horse as ever trod the Australian turf. Darebin, by The Peer (imported), full brother to Towton (imported) dam Lurline, full sister to Castaway. Terms :—£2 10s per mare; two or more Mares belonging to same owner, as per agreement. Ingomar, os a four-year-old, walked over for Her Majesty's Plate, lOOsovs, 3 miles, w.f.a., at the Down Ireland Royal Corporation Summer Meeting, and won the Hurdle Race at Croydon, beating nineteen others. As a five year-old he won the Thom Club Handicap, of SOOsovs, added to a sweep of ISsovs, one mile, beating Notus. Riohlieu, Hopbloom, etc; Her Majesty's Plate of 100 guineas, 2 miles (912), w.f.a.—won In a canter ; Her Majesty's Plate, of 100 guineas, 2£ miles (0.12), w.f.a., nt the Curragh September meeting-won in a canter j Her Majesty's Plato, of 100 guineas, 8 spiles (9.13) w.f.a., at tho Ciiyrogh October—won in a onnter by six lengths. It will be seen from tl;e above perfomanoes that Ingomar was a fine stayer under heavy weights, both on the flat and over hurdles His tabulated pedigree is full of stout blood, and ho is the sire of LqcJjnoss, fetyephon, TEgyptilla, Alpincus. Too Good (winner of the Grand National Bteeplpohase, at Liverpool), anil Little Widow (winner of the Hurdlp and Steeplechase, at the last meeting of the Curragh of Kflldare.)
