[special to the standabd.] Napieb, Monday night At the Supreme Court Jo day ths case of Robson v. Renata Hamu Hamu and others was taken. Mr Ctesswall appeared for the defendants, and stated that Messrs Rees and Day, of Gisborne, were the defendants’ solicitors, and had instructed him only last Saturday, and he asked that the ease ba postponed till Wednesday, The Chief Justice would not consent, and Mr Cresswell withdrew. Mr Sainsbury, for plaintiff, called William Robson, sheepfarmer, of Mangaruhe, who gave evidence as to defendant’s “squatting” on bis property, and occupying about 80 acres. He claimed possession, and also damages. Judgment was given for plaintiff for possession of his land, and £2O flaiusges—costs on middle scale.

This afternoon the Chief Justice gave formal judgment against E. ff. Ward in the action against him and others by Paramena One One, judgment having been reserved when delivered against the other defendants, in consequence of Ward’s absence from the Colony. The judgment was the same, costs against Ward to be the same as against Mr Henry Lascelles. On Saturday night Mr J. R. Cox, member for Clare, Ireland, addressed a meeting at the Gaiety Theatre, on behalf of the evicted tenants. There were about 400 persons present, Mr H. P, Cohen being in the chair. Mr Cox had an enthusiastic reception. About £5O was collected in the hall, but it is understood that the sum was subse quently made up to £l5O. To-day Mr Cox was taken out to Hastings, where he had an excellent reception. He deliverel an address, and a handsome collection was made.

The bowling season opened here on Saturday.
