BOWING.
THE final heat of the Rowing Club's trial fours is to be rowed at six to-night. On Saturday afternoon Clayton’s crew had an easy victory over Lunn’s. Last night there was a great boil over, in the race between Sandlant’s and Hennessy’s crews. The former got away with the lead, and it was not until the Hospital was reached that Hennessy got on even terms with his formidable opponents. Then the pace was put on. The boats raced nose and nose for awhile, Hennessy drawing ahead slightly at the bathing shed, and then maintained the lead to the finish, though Sandlant’s crew made a very game race of it. The winners were warmly congratulated on beating a crew which many believed would win the final. Clayton’s crew had an easy victory over Chrisp’s, though bow and No. 3 of the former caught “ crabs ”at the start. The final is for Mr Stewart’s medals. The victorious crew keep together, and compete for the championship, in which twelve of the best men in the defeated crews also join.
