Last Night’s Entertainment.

There was a great crowd at the entertainment in aid of the City Band. After an overture by the Band, the attraction of the evening, Dream Faces, was put on. The ever popular Mrs W. Graham, Miss Drummond, and Messrs A. F. Kennedyand Grant took the different parte, and were warmly applauded for the excellence of their work, while they were complimented with an enthusiastic call before the curtain when they had finished their part of the programme. The second part opened with an instrumental quartette by Messrs Brown, Spurdie, Morrison, and Ormond, which was capitally rendered. Mr J. Searle sung ‘My Sweetheart when a Boy ’ and was recalled. Miss Adair sung * Robin Adair 1 so sweetly that she had to respond to an encore, and gave ‘Old folks at home.’ Mr 0. Lincoln seemed to meet the public taste in hie comic song' Been there before,’ and was brought on a third time. A clever gymnastic exhibition by five boys followed, Andy Johnston as clown creating merriment. The next item was weight lifting by Mr Harry Branson, who suoceded in lifting and holding a field gun on his shoulders while it was fired off, but hurting his shoulder he was unable to give bis other exhibition. A nice song 1 The Land of the Leal,’ by Mrs Hennessy followed, and was well received. The whole concluded with an entertainment by the Darktown Band, which was not a success.
