Morpheus oomes from a great racing family, claiming some aristocratic and high-class performers as his relatives. His sin won ■he Wellington Cup, Ashburton Cup, and ran second ror the Christchurch Derby and Great Autumn Handicap. He is full brother to Lurline and Le Loup. The performances of these animals in New Zealand and A Australia need no comment. Le Loup won the Canterbury J.O. Handicap and Cup in 1880; Opera, grand dam of Morpheus, won the Canterbury Derby in 1884. Tambourini was also from Opera, by Towton, and won amongst other races, the Canterbury J.O.Handicap and Canterbury and Wellington Cups, besides performing successfully over hurdles. Salvage, by Castaway, ran second for Wellington Cnp in 1882, giving the winner a year and a pound. Won the Great Autumn Handicap at Christchurch, and ran second to Adamant, for the Dunedin Cup, giving the winner two yean and twenty-four pounds. Won the Auckland Cup and * Free Handicap. THE COMING SEASON. 81. the handsome hoese “hukatere; (By Ingomar—Bessemer • bred by the Auckland Stud Company) is a Dapple Brown Horse, standing 16 hands 2 inches, with remarkably good bone. WILL Stand the Coming Season, and owners of Thoroughbred Mares are requested to study the following INGOMAR (Imp.)—Bay Horse, bred in Ireland in 1872, and imported to N. Z. by Mr P. Campbell In 1884 ; got by Unoaa—Wild Deer, by Red Heart—Mary O'Toole, by Annandale—Dahlia, by New Fashion— Matilda, by Humphrey Clinker. Ingomar, as a four-year-old, walked over for Her Majesty's Plate, lOOsovs, 8 miles, w.f.a., at the Down Ireland Royal Corporation Summer Meeting, and won the Hurdle Raoe at Croydon, beating nineteen others. As a five year-old he won the Thom Club Handicap, of SOOsovs, added to a sweep of ISsovs, one mile, beating Notus, Richlieu, Hopbloom, etc; Her Majesty's Plato of 100 guineas, 2 miles (912), w.f.a.—won in a canter ; Her Majesty's Plate, of 100 guineas, 2J miloa (8.12) w.f.a., attho Ourragh September meeting—won in a canter ; Her Majesty's Plate, of 100 guineas, 8 miles (9.13) w.f.a., at the Curragh October—won in a canter by six lengths. It will be seen from the above performances that Ingomar was a fine stayer under heavy weights, both on the flat and over hurdles. His tabulated pedigree is full of stout blood, and he is the sire of Lochness, Strephon, xEgyptilla, Aloinous, Too Good (winner of the Grand National Steeplechase, at Liverpool), and Little Widow (winner of the Hurdle and Steeplechase, at the last meeting of the Curragh of Killdare.) HUKATERE—Brown Colt, by Ingomar—Bessemer, foaled 18S8. BESSEMER—Bare Mare, bred by the Auckland Stud Company in 1880, by Musket—All Steel, by Stockham (imp.)—Steel trap ; Stockham, by Weatherbit—Birthday, by Pantaloon—Honoris, by Camel.
