The Hawke’s Bay Free Laborers’ Association gives the following list of the rates of wages paid by various County Councils Hawkes Bay : ys per day worked, wet or dry, no deduction for holidays, tents found, Thames ; ys per working day, holidays not reckoned. Wairarapa North : Permanent hands ys, find own tools, casuals 7s tools found, only Christmas and New Year’s day allowed. Taranaki: 6s per working day, public holidays allowed permanent hands. Manawatu: Permanent hands 6s and casuals ys per working day. No holidays paid for. Wairoa (H. 8. : Permanent hands 6s and 6s 6d wet or dry, public holidays paid for.
