COUNTY COUNCIL.

The above body met yesterday afternoon. Present: The Chairman (Mr Clark), and Crs Grey, Orr, Wethered, Hepburn, King, and Tuohy,

Mr D. Malone wrote offering to give £1 per tree for the purirl lying at Panekan. Or Tuohy proposed that legal advice be taken as to their power to sell, and i! so the Council oall tenders for the timber.

The Engineer reported that the Tologa works were going on well, and he would be able to call tenders for farther portions for Saturday fortnight. Or King drew attention to the fact that the maintenance men were not keep, ing tbe main road in good order, and it was decided that the Engineer should give the contractors notice.

On the motion of Cr Gray, seconded by Cr King, it was decided that a special auditor should be appointed. Appplicants to state price per annum for two audits. Accounts were passed as follows :—A. B. Muir £4 2s 93, M. Fitzgerald £7 16s 23, D. Malone £9O, Kiely and McDonald £6 6s, G. A. Beere £l4. Engineer's sundries£6 18«, salaries £45 16s 81, B. Brooking £8 15s, H Hamblett £ll6s, Pod and Jamieson £L 10s, B. Gately £5, Petty cash £5. The following tenders were received:— Matawhero culvert: R. ThelwaH £ll, D. Quinn (aooen’el) £lO ss.
