NAPIER MAGISTRATE’S COURT
(Before Mr. A. M. Mowleni, S.M.). TO-DAY 1 S PROCEED INGB. Four charges of breaches of prohibition orders within three weeks, beside an additional one of drunkenness, were preferred against Campbell McDonald, aged 37 years. He pleaded guilty. Sergeant Cooper, of Port Ahuriri. stated that McDonald was prohibited on March 13 last and on the following day ho was under the influence of liquor. Ever since the order was made he had been practically undei the influence of liquor. Last night he made a nuisance of himself and was arrested. His Worship, to the defendant Where do you come from?- The Bluff. His Worship: And you have been putting up a big one here. Prohibition orders are made to be ooeyed. and if not obeyed, then a penalty is attached. Have you any nionev? Sergeant Cooper: Two shillings. His Worship: Well, where does he get the money to buy beer and whiskey • Constable Arnold: It is supplied to him by others. Fines totalling £lO. with a maximum default of twp months’ imprisonment, were imposed.
