Wednesday, iugusfc 29. The last months proceedings in connection with this mine has again given a most satisfactory result, and the genera} aspect of the Companys affairs is decidedly, encouraging. The monthly instalment as payment on account of the Battery, viz.* £400, has from the last months work been duly paH, and a dividend of three pence, per 20,000 th share, was also declared. The contractors are now using every possible" effort to get the shaft from the sur- ' face through to meet the rise, the sinking is not difficult and the work will soon be accomplished. In all probability when the above is effected the full number of stamps will be at once put in action, and the monthly return be considerably augmented and larger dividends declared. A contract has been let to J. Twohill and party to drive a new low tunnel at 28s 6d. Excavation for the tunnel mouth ia nbw being proceeded with.
