Tt k gratifying to »oto that the last few weeks haro brought a very approoiablo improvement in the general proa* pects of tho field. During the last six or eight months tho vitality of tho district was reduced to a very low ebb, lower, perhaps, than that of any previous period for years past. But tbero Beams now, room to believe that tho i npell is broken, and that the improvement recorded in the appearance of many of tho wines will bo the meana of inducing inteßtment, and givothe much needed fttimulua to enterprise. It is reported that, ofter n long and expensive search, th« Wealth of Nations Company have at length picked wp the reef in their low level, and should tho stone proyo to be of tho name extent and quality as that worked on the tipper levels, as there seems fair reason to fiappoae it will, tho district cannot fail to profit much, both directly and indirectly. In the name neighborhood the Keepfit-Dark Company hn» obtained wHat is confidently believed to be a long and profitable tonae of life, by catting the reef at a very low level, and as the liability incurred by the company in the purehaao of crushing plant is now wiped out, or nearly so, the profits of foturo enuhinp will flow directly to ■hare holder, and also tend greatly to,tl>o general good. The long, almost forgotten? region of Murray Creek » once more raising its figurative head, and tho recent discoveries m the Victoria, Revival, Tnglewood and other mines there are Ml . jf Ff«J»«e. A few months more wiM probably see the Golden Fleece mine reinstated to tho front as o wealth producer, while its more youthful neighbor, tho foam Company, is now biding foirly to take e^uat rank, The Independent Company, after a loop season of call paying, are at length in a position to open negotiations for crushing power, and the shareholders have now before them a fair project of their woll earned reward. From- the Ramy Creek district we have the reassuring- news of tlVe striking of a new, payable reef by tho Inkermon Company. To all this is to bo added) the expectations in ropard to tho new rceftog district of Soldier* Tho "Union Company will probably be ready to, crush in the spring of the year, and i* is very pro* bable that the Oriewtal Company will bo on tho move in tho Barao direction ero many month* are over; Afc Boafcmans there has of late been a very marked improvement in the prospects of many of the mine*. Tho Hopeful Company will be crush-ing- continue onßly for the remainder of tbo year, while tho 'Wclcorae Company will uao the fttampera wlvonovor thoy aro availublo- All toe cimMnstoncea point to the foot that the coming ftummor will find' the- district in a y.ory sownd and) prosperous condition.
