A long discussion arose in Committeo on tho Savings Banks' Profit Bill, on clauao 3, which would empowor tho trustees to pay ovor any excoss of profits ovor a cortuin sum to some institution. After a groat deal of talk I tho clauso was araendod to road " ton per " of profitfl, instead of " one thousand pounds." A now clause was then added making tho Bill apply to Otago only, and tho Bill then passed* Tho Houeeadj'nmuyd at 1,35,
