Ok tho House resuming last night Mr Curtis moved his resolutions rolntivo to tho Legislative Council, and which have been on the Order Paper so long. Ho madp but a brief Bpeoeli. Mr Stout opposed on b,ohalf of tho Government, and roferrod very briefly to tho Bill, faying ft country oould have no greater curso than an elective Upper llouso, and concluded by moving tho previous question, After a few other Bpeakera the motion waa put and negatived on tho voices. A few private Bills woro then advanced a stage, when the adjourned debato on tho Triennial Parliaments Bill was resumed. After vory brief discussion, the motion w«s negatived by 24 to 18. In reply to Mr Ortr.ond, Mr Shoehan said no did not think it desirable to give tho House information regarding tbo proposed railway from Waikato to Taranaki, and tho particular under which ftewi and othor native chiefs agroed to the ar* rangement. If he guv© an answer, na ho might, it would have an unfavorable effect upon tho negotiations now pending. In reply to Twaiti, Mr Shcohun said if his proposals woro not agreed to he would bring^ down a Bill to increase tho number of Maori representatives in tho llouso. Por the re» minder of tho flitting tho IJouso was in Committee on tbo Electoral Bill, and paused without material alteration, clauses 41 to 1U inclusive.
