Pub'.ie Notices GXYGEN IS LIFE. A LTBOTJGH the modern Materia Medica J\_ includes many valuable remedies for human nfflictions. it is a matter of certainty that in all cases, where the animal vitality is falling, Phosphorus is .decidedly superior to any other remedy at present known. It will work effects such as nothing else will pro'uee, and it possesses the great advantage of not causing, when its use is relinquished, the slightest action or repression. The question naturally presents itsplf 'Why is so valuable an element so little reganied and so seldom prescribed," The only answer which can be given is : — That a certain difficulty has be a found in so preparing it that its action m > be kept .....'er perfect control. Hitherto iinas been usedem almond and olive oils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in sovertil other substances; but however valuable it has been found in all the hitherto know methods of its preparation, certain irregular results have been experienced, which have led physicians to neglect it for general purposes, and to employ it ouly in extreme cases and after every other remedy has failed. But a chemical process has now been discovered, by which its invaluable action on the human system may be realised withou any of those' drawbacks which previous modes of administration have invariably produced. Iggf CAUTION. — Phosphorus is sometimes •old in the form of Pills and Losenges } it should be generally known that every form where solid particles of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the public should be cautioned against the use of any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water. Protected by Royal Letter Patent.
