) •. _ . — . 1 The regular monthly meeting of the members of the Committee was held at 1 Mr M'Gaffin's office, on Friday evening ' last--1 Present; Messrs Cohen (chair), Con* r nolly, M'Kay, M'Gaffin, and Twohill, ' The Doctors and Warders monthly reports were read and received. Dr Monckton tendered notice of his intention to resign the position of Hospis tal Surgeon, at the expiration of his term of agreement with the Committee. Proposed 'by Mr Connolly, seconded by Mr M'Kay, and carried, that the secretary be authorised to communicate by delayed telegram with JDr Martin re Dr MonbfctonV resignation, to ascertain if he can recommend to the Committee a suitable medical man. The following were appointed a Visit* iag Committee for the current month ; — Messrs Connolly, M'Kay, and Twobill. Proposed by Mr Cohen, seconded by Mr M'Kay, and i carried, that a loiter of thanks be sent to each of the Beneflt Societies, for there exertions on behalf of the Hospital funds. The following accounts were presented, and passed for payment .—
' f /Her Majesty has appointed Captain Shaw, the chief of the London Fire Brigade, a Companion of the Bath. Prince Napoleon, who has abandoned his expectant role, and appears to assume the position of a competitor for the Presidency, has recently constituted his household on an extensive scale, appointing gentlemen of high position in the Bonapartists ranks to posts about his person.
