ORIENTAL.
The directors of the s compauy paid a visit to the mine at the close of last week with the object of ascertaining the practicability of connecting the mine with tbe Union battery. The conclusion arrived at was, I believe, that the proposal was feasible, but tbe distance between the two points is rather far for an incline tram. Nothing definite was resolved upon, but at the next meeting of the directors the subject will, no doubt, be fully discussed. The parly made a careful examination of the reef and were rewarded with some excellent specimens, but the best feature of the search was tbe proof of the good average appearance of the stone, the gold boing found to be evenly distributed through the whole of the enormous face of stone. As the directors are full of confidence in the payableness of the mine, and anxious to bring it in to repros ductive operation, there is every likelihood that before another month is over some arrangement will be made for the furnishing of machinery.
