The schooner Ellerton, which was • competing in the coasters race, went ashore in Oriental Bay. She will not sustain any damage. Climates won the race ; Poneki second Alert, the southern crack, was last. Nearly all the other events had to be postponed. Nelson, January 22. A cordial reception will be accorded to the representatives at the New Zealand Rifle Associations meeting in March. A lad named Bry, 13 years of age, for breaking into Foxhill railway station, was sentenced to one months' hard labor. Christchttbch, January 22. The police have again commenced to search for the body of Vennal, supposed to have been murdered at his own house, New Brighton.
