It is elsewhere announced that the sitting of the District Court, at Eeefton, which was fixed to be held on Thursday next, will be adjourned until Monday morning. The members of the Fire Brigade turned out for practice last night, and went through a number of evolutions, the members displaying considerable efficiency. Messrs Brennan, Trennery and Gallagher, as members of the Public Works Committee of the County Council, yesterday proceeded down the Buller road, for the purpose of inspecting the progress of the maintenance contracts. Mr B. Masters, MJELR., arrived in ReeTton yesterday evening, and will probably remain here for a few days. The crops throughout tbe Inangahaa are the finest and heaviest probably ever harvested in the district. This is especially the case with regard to oats, the growth of which is this year magnificent. The late fine weather has greatly facilitated farming opera - tions. A meeting of the Committee of the Irish Relief Committee will be held at Mr Bien« nan's office, at 8 o'clock this evening All members are particularly requested to attend, as the business is important. We have received the notification fixing the scale of fees and fines of the Reefton Pound. The advertisement did not, however, reach us in time for insertion to-day, It will appear in our next i«su»>. It is said that Mr Gordon will probably succeed Mr C- Y. O'Connor, as District En« gineer of the West Coast, the latter gentleman succeeding to a higher position under the Gevernment in another part of the Colony, It is said t^at both Mr M'Kei-row, tbe present Surveyors-General, and Mr G-ordon are blacksmiths by trade.
