The offer of John O'Donnell to construct a bridge over Boatman's Creek was not entertained. Proposed by Mr Caples, and secondeel by Mr Gallagher, that the Chairman communicate with Mr Greenfield, and urge Hie desirab lity of not entertaining any applications for agricultural leases between the Lyell and Hnmpden on land known to he auriferous. Carried. Movod by Mr GaUnyher. seconded by Mr Caples, and carried, t'.ar the Enginepr be instructed to coll for tenders for the erection of a foot bridge aero*** Bom roan's Crerk, and that the plans and specißeotions be after the form indicated by the Puhlie Works Com rnittee. The Public Works Committee's report : was then read by the Chainr.an. Proposed by Mr Davies, seconded by Mr WilMams, and carried, that the report of the Public Works Committee be re- j ceived and adopted. Proposed by Mr Brennan, seconded by Mr Davies, and it was carried, that an application be made to the Waste Lands Board to have gravel pits laid off on the following leases :— Job Lines' below thp Tnangithua Junction ; Cameron's leasp opposite M'Dowell's, about one a-ha!f miles from Beefton ; M'Gahey's leastnext to Charles Lyons ; John Williams 'ease on rise near his house ; and that the leaseholders bfl notified of this resolution of the Council. Ec Mr Jacques' application — it was proposed by Mr Davies, seconded by Mr M'Gaffin, anJ it was carried, that Mr Jacques be paid £25 to enable him to go to Melbourne. Proposed by Mr Dayies, seconded by Mr Byrne, and it was carried, that the Public Works Committee visit the Reefton Cemetery, and report to the next meeting of the Council as to the best method of putting it in a state of repair. Moved by Mr Gallagher, that a Eecep* tion Committee be appointed by this Council to make suitable preparations for and to receive the Minister Public Works and suite. Seconded by Mr M'Gaffin, and carried. Moved by Mr Gallagher, seconded by Mr Byrne, and it was carried, that the Chairman, and Messrs Davies, M'Gaffin, and the mover, be appointed a committee with power to add to their number, for the purpose of drawing up the require ments of this County, and having the same laid by deputation before the Minister of Public Works on bis arrival in ReeftOD, The accounts were then'presented. Proposed by Mr Gallagher, that Mr Pots accoun*, and that of Messrs 'His. brook and Mirßu be referred to the Finance Committee. Seconded by Mr M'Gaffin, and carried. Moved by Mr M'Gaffin, seconded by Mr Gallagher, and carried, that the ac« counts as read ami corrected be passed for payment, and that the other accounts be referred to the Finance Committee. The following notices of motion will be brought forward at the next meeting of the Council :— The Chairman to move, that tenders be called for the construction of 100 chains j of roads from the main Grey Eoad in tbe direction of the Otutu Terrace, and on the line laid off by Mr Galloway. Government surveyor, saving a slight deviation through Coutanche's ground, Payments to be made on the deferred system, Seconded by Mr M'Gaffin. Mr Davies to move, that the follows ing resolntion passed at the meeting of the Council on the 4th February last, viz: — That the Chairman communicate with the Members for the district, asking them to use their influence with the Government to have a Bottle Licensing Act passed at the coming session of Parliament for the Provincial district of Nelson be, and the same is hereby rescinded.
