Dandy, B<t 12!bs, and Mr Cretan's Hark»way, lOst 41bs, also ran. Dandy and Butcher Boy led for the first quarter, when Dandy took the first place, but shortly after bolted off the course. He was leading by a length and a half at the time. Mr Lyons' litte favourite stuck to it tnanfully. although carrying Ist 3 bs overweight and being in very bad form did not require whip or spur, and has all the appearance of pos>. sessing good blood ; and if he was well handled would be pretty hot company. Hubby Fcubry for a saddle and bridle. Distance, one mile. Catch weights, for loosers oulv. Mr Cretan's Harkaway 1 Mr Lyons' Boy 2 Mr Williams' Dandy bolted when leading in a canter by two lengths. The Boy and Harkaway had a hard fight, but the Big %lutfe horse #a| too strong for the little fellftw. This brought to a close one of tbe most enjoyable; meetings ever held on the West Coast. Only one thing was wanted to make it the greatest success of any gathering in the valley, end that was a'largei" attendaneerof the faw sex.
