THE LYELL.

During thfr violent gale which swept up the Buller iyret yesterday, a large tree was uprooted near tbe Inaogahaa 1 Junction, and blown across tbe telegraph line, severing the wire. Courtney, the I road contractor, who was close by at the ; time of the accident, immediately made [ temporary repairs by connecting tbe broken wire. The floods have done considerable damage to the main road between Westport and Inangabna Junction, Several slips are down between Westport and the Blaekwater, blocking the road against coach traffin. Some slips also occurred on the Inangahua por'ion of road, but were immediately cleared away. It is expected the road will be open for coach on Monday next. ' April 10th, 1880.
