Notwithstanding the many hard things said of the present Government in their treatment of the West Coast generally, we are fain to admit that we have fared much better than we expected. Of coure the devil was never as black as he was painted, but small in comparison as tbe matters are for which we are indebted to the Government, they indicat an amount of attention to local wants, for which we were not prepared. We publish to-day the tenders for the needed alterations to tbe court house, and learn that the tenders for the Toangahua bridge will be published immediately that the working survey is completed.
