The accounts of the Inangahua County] have just been balanced up to tbe 31st March last, in conformity with the requirements of the Counties Act. The gross income of tbe County for the year is set down at £18 455, in eluding a bank advance of £010. Of this amount Gold Duty contributed £2,233 ; lates, £1480". j Licenses, £4153, and tbe balance is made up ! of Dog Tax, £54 ; Goldfields Revenue. £1219 ; Land £241 ; Fees and! Fines, £28 ; Subsidies on rates, £3,825 ; Subsidies on Roads, Bridges, and Maintenance, £6,333, and mis* cellaneous grants bring up the- total. Upon the expenditure side there is a debit balance of £3,467, which was brought over from the previous year. The expenditure upon roads and bridge i during the year, was £11,607 ; .Salaries, £1009: Interest, L 142; Charitable .A\id, L 34 4; and the balance to miscellaneous The present liabilities of tbe- County are set down at L 2091, made up as follows : Bank overdraft, L 61 0; General Creditors, L 911; due on existing contracts," L 570. The outstanding rates are shown at L57j5 j and subsidies due, L 2 970. These figures show the County to be in a thoroughly solvent position, a condition of things we hardly expected to learn, considering the great falling, off which has taken place of late in the revenue from Gold Duty.
