The County Chairman yesterday wired to tbe Minister of Public Works inquiring what progress was being made with the plans for the Inangahua bridge, and when i\e work was likely to be started. The reply was by no means consoling, and was to the effect that the query would be referred to Mr Blair. There is a good deal of the circumlocution office about such a res ply, and conveys an uopleasant suspicion of indecision. Sharing in this feeling, Mr Breonan, knowing the public anxiety felt on the subject in Reefton, subsequently telegraphed to Mr Martin, Kesident Engineer, Hokifcika, for some more decisive informa- ! tion, but no reply has as yet been r j-
