MISCELLANEOUS.

The New Z aland Times of Thursday says :— A, caucus of the Opposition was held yesterday afternoon, and various rumors are afloat concerning th« proceeds ings in connection therewith. Wb regret that we ate unable to do more than give these rumors, and also that on the whole they arJauot as sa'Tsfactory as eoul i be desiredt The Opposition has our go<*d wishes, for one well organised and skillfully conducted must prove of immense benefit to the country, by balancing the legislative business of the session. As it is. undue preponderance of power lies on the Ministerial side, and there is just the danger of its begetting arrogance. So far, however, Ministerialists have conducted themselTds with cotnraendab'e moderation, and it is to be hoped will do to Hie end. The Liberal caucus of yesterday is variously described. We hear that tbirly'One members were present aud eight accounted for, and that the proceed* ceedings were most satisfactory. We also hear that only twenty -eight mem--bers were present, and that the eight j accounted for were more or less mythical, whilst divided counsels continued to prevail, and that the substance of the resolutions was to the effect that every man should couch a free lance on his own account. Wo give these reports for what they are worth, heartily wishing at the same time that we could have announced a good organisation under sagacious leadership.
