At a meeting of members from raining constituents (eighteen in all) it was resolved that representation should be made to the Premier calling attention to the fact that the goldfields had not received that conaideras tion at the hands of the Minister? which such a large interest deserved, and requesting that a separate department should be inaugurated, as vet no reply has been received from Mr Hal!/ A middle party is being formed with Mr Ormond, member for Clive, «b its lea-ler. This party will be a source of trouble to the Government, I as its principal constituent parts now 'supposed to be supporters of the Ministry. To-nighfc Mr Reeves gaye notice that on the next occasion of going into committee of supply, he would move that an export duty be levied on wool and raw hides, and an import duty on coals; he is likely to have a fair support — though it is not probable he will this session carry it out.
