, The County Chairman received a telegram from Messrs Masters and Reeves il on Friday last recommending that a deputation from the Council should proceed to Weliington, to co-operate 1 with the representatives of other West Coast Counties, now in Wellington, in an interview with the Govern* 1 ment re the withdrawal of subsidies I maintenance of main roads, and other matter?, A telegram was also received from the County Chairman, Grey mouth, on the same subject, and ' intimating that a deputation would be despatched from there. A special meeting of the Council was held in the evening, for the purpose of taking , an expression of opinion upon the ad" 1 visability of the step. The subject was discussed at considerable length, 1 and the feeling was against the pro« 1 I posal, and a resolution to that effect , was accordingly carried, and there the ' matter ended.
