OXYGEN IS LIFE. A LTHOUGH ihe modern Materia Medica J\_ includes many valuable remedies i'or hnman afflictions, itis a matter of certainty that in all cases, where the animal vitality is falling, Phosphorus is decidedly supeior to any other remedy at present known. It will work effects such as nothing else will pro ! uce, and it possesses the great ad vantage of not sausinc, when its use is relinquished, the slightest action or depression. The question naturally presents itself 'Why is so valuable an element jo little regarded and so seldom prescribed," The only answer which can be given is ;— That a certain difficulty has beiafound in so preparing it that its action must be kept u-Vht perfect control. Hitherto it nns been used in almond and olive oils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified F.lcihol) in chloroform, and m sevenl other Bubßtances ; but however valuable it has been ound in all the hitherto know methods of ts preparation, certain irregular results have been experiecced, whioh have led physicians 'to neglect it lor general purposes, and to employ U ouly in extreme cases and after every other remedy has failed. But a chemical process has now been discovered, by which its invaluable action on the human system may be realised withou any of those drawbacks which previous modes of administration have invariably produced. GST CAUTlON.— Phosphorus is sometimes sold in the form of Pi'ls and Lozenges ; it should be generally £nown th.it every form ■where solid particles of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the publio should be cautioned against the use of any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in«water. Protected by Royal Letter Patent.
