« . Lieutenant-General Primrose, who is shut up in the citadel of Candahar, has three months 1 supplies and 3000 troops under his command. General Burrows, ns well as the southern forts of Kaiat-i-Ghilzti, and the posts north of Kbotan. are in danger. General Phayre has not yet reached Chaman. Ha is assembling a force of 3000 men in the Pishin ralley.. and will advance in a fortnight. The Governor of Bombay has promised a further f rce of 8000 men. It is be» l : eyed that if Ayouh Khan is unsuccesss nil at Candahar he will advance en Ghuznee, which is the centre of the Rational party. It is expected that General Sir F. S. Eoherts, with 8900 men, will proceed son-hwards from Cnbul if every, t.l.frr? Nt the rapifa' remains qt'iet, leaving 12 000 men under the command of ■Jeneral Sir PnrmM Rt-wirt.
