♦ A statue worth £7000. for tbe Melbourne Exhibition, was broken during tbe voyage from Italy. A Japanese paper states that a manuscrcpt draft of the nen-ly framed Constitution of Ibe Empire has lueu drawn up, but its tenor is kept secret. It is said however, that among i's provisions will be the creation of a Parliament similar to tbat of Great Birtain, with an equivalent to tbe Hou?e of Peers and House of Commons' Tlie committee for erecting a statue to B 'uset de l'ls]e ; tbe autlior of tbe •' Mar seillaise," have issued a stirring appeal to the F.iencb to ai.l them in their object.
