The following 13 the under taking which the public are invited to sign:— "..We the undersigned are will* ing. in the event*of a Company '* being formed under tiie Joint Stock Company's Act, 1860, to lay out, survey, and arrange with the Parliament and Govern* roent of New Zealand, to Construct and Work a Line of Railway from Hurunui to the southern centres of population on the West Coast, via Keefton and the Grey Valley, as reported by Messrs Thornton and Brown, upon Grants of Land being made to defray in the whole or in part the cost of the sam** ; to sub« scribe to the number of Shares set op> posit e to our respective names, upon the folowing conditions :— -viz., 5s per share is to be payable on demand, the remainder is to be called up at the rate of 25s per Share, per annum. Provided that no more than 5s per share shall be payable unless satisfactory arrangements be made with the Legislature for the construe* lion of the work and the prosecntion of the enterprise. It is understood, however, that the 6s per share when called up M to be devoted towards the cost of the necessary Parliamentary and detailed Surveys, of forming the Company, and of the necessary applications to the Legis* lature and Government of the Colony/ The printed sheets will be Here for signature in the coarse of a day or two, and the people will then have an opportunity of testifying their zeal on behalf of the undertaking.
