REEFTON FIRE BRIGADE.
The adjourned meeting of the R.V.F.B. was held at the engine shed on Friday, the r lsth instant., Present: A good muster of the Bri- ' ,gade ; Capf&Hn^Collihgs in the chair. . Minutes of the previous meeting w;ere read and eorinrmed. I/i j-uisuance of a resolution passed at the previous meeting, Messrs J. S. Smith and R. Oxley, reported having canvassed the town for the purpose of obtaining signatures of candidates for r membership, and banded inline documents*, showing that thirty-four had subscribed as active or Working members, and that twentyfive bad signified their intention of becoming hon. members et such annual subscription fee as the meeting would fix. _ Proposed by Mr M'Beath, seconded by Mr Jacobson, and carried, that the report of Messrs Smith and Oxley be received, and that the gentlemen signing the \ht, be enrolled as members of the ; RXF.B. j Moved by -ifir Smith, seconded by Mr | Patterson, andpearried, that the subscription of boßor||y\nrcmber3 be one guinea] Moved byTwr Uxle^secondeS'by M? 1 Joice, and Carried, that every effort be msde.to obtain the striking of a special ; fire rate at fls early a date as possible, and that a sufficient number of signatures be obtained to the petition required by the Act to be presented to the County Council. Moved by Mr M'Beath, seconded by Mr Eater, and carried, that the services of 1 the present night«watchinan, Mr Little, be retained at tbe salary of £2 10s per week. Resolved tbafthe bend managers of tbe various'; Insurance Olfiees, who have flgencies in Reefton, be requested to subsidise the 'funds of the (Brigade; in a . similar ratio as during the previous year, and that the Secretary make the request in'>riting on behalf of the Brigade. MoveJ by Mr Jacobson, seconded by Mr M.Dunn, and carried, that a com* mittee be appointed, consisting of — Messrs Richardson, Smith, and M'Beath, for the puirpose"of obtaining estimates of prices at which "a serviceable uniform may be purchased for'the members of tbe Brigade—such committee to report and submit suggestions on the matter to the next meeting. Resolved' thrift •■ the monthly general practice be held on the Friday evening nearest full, moon, 1 at 9 p.m. ■On the motion of the Chairman, it was resolved, that a fortnightly practice meeting of new members be held on a Friday evening, f until such efficiency is attained as will warrant its discontinuance: The first muster for dry practice to be called on Friday evening next at 9, p.m. ' • :■'■'■'* The election of officers then took place, and resulted in the following appointments .— C»ptain--Mr W. G. Ceilings. v Ist. Lieutenant~Mr Richardson ; 2ndLientenant— Mr J. S. Smith. Foreman of Engine— Mr M. Dornan ; Deputy Foreman— Mr W. (Jrumpton. Ist. Branchman— M> M. Dunn ; 2nd Branchman— -Mr E. Paine. Treasurer — Mr . D. M'JBeatb ; and Secretary r-Mr J. Seargeani. Buglers— Messrs M. Dornan, and W. Crumpton. After a vote of thanks to the chair, the meeting terminated at 10 30 p.m.
